At the time of writing, a Beyond Reasonable Doubt compact disc is listed on Discogs at $1,500, making this one of the most expensive collectibles here on Town Love. This album seems to be made in California, but in the thank yous Ace is sure to thank Hilltop and all his T-Town homies. He says he’s gonna, “take it from the Northwest, to the Bay, to the nation.”

Track two “Ta Da Wheels Fall Off” starts out the album with a solid pop-rap vibe. It’s a cheerful song about staying on the grind and not giving up. “Let’s Get It Crackin” continues the mood, and has motivational lyrics about the game. “I just wanna get this s*** crackin, show MCs what strategies is lacking,” Ace explains.

“Move Wit Me” is a love song for the dance floor. For reality tales check out “I Confess.” “They got a liquor store on every corner in the hood, and they still treat us like we wanna steal their damn goods,” is a lyrical example. I found the song to be evocative of “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash. With the refrain of “You’re living life close to the edge,” my mind immediately went to “It’s like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder.”

Track six “Life Goes On” interpolates The Whispers, and the topics of success and hard work are similar to the first couple of songs on Beyond Reasonable Doubt. Background singers assist on “The Way I Do,” which breaks down Ace’s methods and reveals how he gets ahead by being unique. “Love Me Or Hate Me” feels eerily like a premonition of The Game’s “Hate It Or Love It,” a full seven years earlier.

Song nine “Who Wanna See Me” feels a little harder edged than most of the radio friendly songs on the album, and it has a dose of gangsta-rap momentum. However, smooth sounds immediately return on “Self Control,” a breezy lark describing the good life. “Beyond Reasonable Doubt” is the album’s final song.
